| Ideally captive care of diurnal reptiles would include daily exposure to direct non winter sunlight unfiltered by glass. Unfortunately this is impractical in most cases for many reasons such as inclement weather, physical security, logistics, care giver time, etc. Fortunately informed use of artificial UV light and heat sources like Active UVHeat lamps and accessories can satisfy this critical need. While not shown in either picture, (I rather look at the gorgeous chameleon) a UVHeat 100watt flood lamp located on an extender fixture 18" away on the top corner of the reptarium provides both a basking site and numerous resting locations for the chameleon. It should be noted that some UV light is present throughout the environment due to reflection. Use of the UV-B-SURE UV B level measuring card was used to determine the correct lamp size, type, placement, and orientation. | Basking Location Resting Location
